Calder research


Came across this picture of one of Calder's mobiles in what looks like a home setting. I think this change of context is really interesting.

This piece could inform my rag rugs for The Haven. It is a hand made thing for children to play with and be comforted by.

Current Work and Research

 Test mobile using paper cut outs:



Continuing to develop and experiment with plant form shapes, here by making stamps:





Continuing to develop research around ficticious plants by drawing from Edward Lear's Nonsense Botany  




Developing my plant form cut outs further by using them as stencils for screen printing:



Then converted them to vectors in illustrator and used them for laser cutting to be developed into mobiles:









Put together my mobiles for the external Haven project in Kings College Hospital. They will be installed this week:




Researched the collaborative piece made by Adam Frezza and Terri Chiao and Studio Proba.  Love the different patterns and shapes and movements, textures of the hanging pieces. With the installation of my mobiles coming up in both the Haven project and our degree show, this was useful to look at:
