Photographs of sets, light, 3d work

Have been experimenting with making things in 3D out of clay, plasticine, wire, paper, cardboard, painted acetate, etc, and photographing it using light.




Wanted to experiment here with how 3d work would look up against simple line drawings. After watching Don Hertzfeldt's "Its such a beautiful day" I was inspired that one could use crude drawings with lighting effects. The film also encouraged me to experiment with cropping.









I did some drawings of the 3d work using different types of charcoal and graphite powder:



Further experimentation with light; shadows are made from shining a light through acetate that I painted patterns on with acrylic:
